01The guarantee
After your selected checks finish, the software compares what you paid with what actually produced an answer. Any difference is sent back through Paystack to your original payment method, the refund is recorded, and it is shown plainly on your report. If a check later re-runs and its outcome changes to a non-chargeable one, the comparison runs again and refunds the difference. Refunds are never clawed back.
02What is refunded automatically
- Any check that ended in "needs review": the source was unreachable, timed out, presented a captcha, changed its layout, or our processing failed.
- Any check that turned out to be unverifiable or that never ran to a result.
- A payment we had to refuse because the amount no longer matched your selected checks: refunded in full.
- A duplicate charge for a verification that was already paid: refunded in full.
- A "not found" from a source where we cannot currently confirm positive matches. While that is true of a source, we do not charge for its negative answers either, because a result that could only ever be negative is not a result we are willing to sell.
03What is not refundable
A check that ran, reached its source, and returned a genuine answer is a real result and is billable, whatever the answer was.
- A genuine "verified" result.
- A genuine "not found" result from a source that could also have confirmed a match. Telling you the source has no matching record is exactly the service you paid for, even when it is not the answer anyone hoped for.
- A completed skills-evidence check that honestly reports the linked sources show no conclusive evidence either way.
04Timing, and what happens if a refund fails
Automatic refunds are raised as soon as the checks settle, usually within seconds of the report completing. Paystack then returns the money to your original payment method; how quickly it appears depends on your bank, and is usually a few business days.
So the honest version of the promise is this. You never have to ask for a refund to be calculated — the software does that itself and it is visible on your report. If the report shows a refund and the money has not reached your account after about five business days, that is the case worth emailing us about, and we will chase it and complete it. We would rather point you at the one failure mode that needs you than let you assume everything is always handled.
05Disputes
If you believe you were charged for a check that did not genuinely run, email [email protected] with your payment reference and the verification in question. Every check's outcome, evidence, and refund history is recorded in an append-only audit trail, so we can reconstruct exactly what happened and put it right. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
